How To Get Ripped Abs 84 Day Challenge

How to Get Ripped Abs – 5 Week How to Get Ripped Abs Review

With all the systems out there for weight loss and getting ripped I’m always skeptical but when I see something that is truly different and unique I love to give it the ultimate test by trying it out on myself.  When I first saw How to Get Ripped Abs by John Alvino I was intrigued because this was created by a guy that trains athletes and develops systems for them for peak performance.  My whole life has been centered on peak performance and studying the best training available.  I used this knowledge to become a state champion wrestler, top US Marine, and fitness trainer but I always seek out others to learn from as that what truly makes us improve.  John Alvino has a lot to teach and he put together the ultimate training system in How to Get Ripped Abs.

Before going into the review let’s talk about the importance of keeping a lean waistline.

Stubborn belly fat has become not only an unsightly bulge around the waistline but a health problem that is a precursor to high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease.  The fat that accumulates around the waistline makes a person sicker, fatter, and unhealthier as it grows.  It’s truly a trap that people have a hard time getting out of because the fat makes it tougher and tougher to get healthy.  Unless you take control you could be on the way to many problems.

I had let myself go for several months and it was time to finally take control.  My waistline was up and so was my blood pressure.  I started my own program that I developed and lost 7 pounds in a month and was feeling and looking better but I was already bored doing my usual thing.  I looked at all of the most popular ab programs and found How to Get Ripped Abs was the best fit for me due to the fact that it centered around intensive full body workouts, HIIT cardio workouts, and smart eating rather than a calorie deprived diet.  I spent my first couple days reading through the entire systems which include the How to Get Ripped Abs book, Meltdown Workout Guide, Exercise Index, Diet Plan, and Recipe book.  This system has everything you can imagine so that you succeed.  I was excited to start this program.  This was the boost I needed to do something new and interesting.  The workouts looked challenging and I was ready to start.

As I was about to start the program I scheduled a time to speak to John Alvino personally to find out more about him and his system.  He has his own gym in Morristown, NJ where he spends all his time training athletes.  This guy knows his stuff.  He isn’t the typical trainer you see in the gym following someone around with a clipboard and counting their reps on the thigh machine.  John Alvino knows how to make guys hurt and gets them in shape.  The How to Get Ripped Abs system is like having him as a personal trainer because the exercises are laid out with detailed pictures and

descriptions.  Guys pay $500 to have a program like this put together and customized for them and he is selling the system for only $77.  I was planning on promoting it if it worked well so I setup my website How To Get Ripped Abs Review and starting blogging my daily progress.

During the first week I immediately noticed two things.  The workouts were much harder than I ever imagined and the amount of food I needed eat everyday was more than I have ever eaten on a fat loss plan.  I was striving for 6 meals a day and was usually so full from the meals that I was only hitting 5 meals.  I did not spend a single minute of my 5 weeks hungry.  If anything I was constantly full.  I was eating all kinds of great healthy foods and meals does wonders to optimizing your metabolism.  I was losing 3 pounds per week and was only shooting for 2.  I admit I started adding some cheat meals here and there but still kept losing 3 pounds per week.  How could this happen?  It’s the workouts that you do.  Three days a week on How to Get Ripped Abs has you doing full body workouts super setting exercises and working at a face pace with high reps and short rest periods.  I hadn’t pushed myself to such a point of pain since Marine Corps boot camp.  These workouts were tough but that’s what I loved so much about them.  The pain and self discipline to push so hard reminded me of wrestling practices and how much they could hurt but how much they rewarded me with a lean body.  The other 3 days a week are spent doing very short HIIT workouts.  I was jumping rope for 12 to 15 minutes or doing an elliptical machine for HIIT for 15 minutes.

During the 5 weeks I stayed on the 12 week program I lost 12 pounds effortlessly.  My waistline shrank down and I did have several cheat meals.  John Alvino was checking out my blog and caught me cheating and sent me a reminder that a better transformation would happen if I didn’t cheat.  My excuse was that I was losing weight too fast at 3 pounds per week and wanted to slow it down.  The truth is I still wanted my weekly pizza and was quite satisfied with 3 pounds of pure fat being melted off per week.  You can see more details and read my 33 day log that I kept for 5 weeks.

I planned on running through the entire 12 weeks but I had to do some traveling and got sick.  I took some time to rest and then ended up with some sinus problems so I ended up 5 weeks out of the gym.  I lost 12 pounds and have not gained an ounce of it back so How to Get Ripped Abs melted the fat off permanently and without rebound like many diets do.  Now it’s close to Thanksgiving so rather than go right back into the program I am going to just hit the gym 3 days a week through the holidays to stay in shape and work on building a few pounds of muscle.  In March I am starting How to Get Ripped Abs again and will complete the entire 12 week program.  There is nothing better for getting in shape and losing fat fast.

If you don’t feel like following a diet plan but could follow a 6 day a week workout program and would like to lose fat fast I would highly recommend How to Get Ripped Abs.  If you can keep yourself eating healthy 80% of the time and follow the workout plan you will still lose a lot of fat until you hit single digit body fat.  Once you hit the 10% or under it is necessary to tighten the diet to get the real Ripped Abs look but if you just want to drop 10-15 pounds to get in better shape start this program and you will lose the weight effortlessly.  When I start back up in spring it will be to get shredded and get my 6 pack back.  In all my years of experience there is not any other program I would choose instead.

If you want to melt the fat around your belly like a blowtorch then go buy How to Get Ripped Abs now.  My How to Get Ripped Abs review is proof that it works for even a 38 year old guy that cheats on his diet.  If a guy like me can lose 3 pounds a week you could probably do even better!  You can read about each of my 33 days here at my How to Get Ripped Abs Challenge

How to Get Ripped Abs Review – Update

If you have been following my How to Get Ripped Abs Review you noticed that at week 5 I stopped.  I had to travel for business and ended up getting sick.  I found that sinusitis was causing me the really bad headaches and giving me that run down feeling.  I’m back to perfect health but now 4 weeks out of the gym so I need to ramp myself back in over the next couple of weeks.  How to Get Ripped Abs is the most demanding workout I’ve ever done.  I lost 12 pounds of fat in 5 weeks without cutting calories and I admit I added several cheat meals.  John Alvino the author told me to stop doing that if I wanted a better transformation but pizza called a few times.  The results for 5 weeks were great though.  I’ll be ready to workout at that intensity again in December but I have to admit that getting ripped in the middle of winter isn’t something I normally do.  I can’t show off my ripped abs and chest on the beach here in New England so I’m going to focus on dropping about 10 more pounds and then focus on mass building until March.  The first week of March I will start How to Get Ripped Abs again from week 1 which will bring me to optimal and ripped condition for June 1st – which still leaves another month of cold weather if you live in New England.

Visit our new site http://www.gain-muscle-mass.net/ for reviews on some of the best mass building workouts, supplements, and free tips on leaning up and getting bigger.  If you are like me and want to spend the winter gaining muscle mass check out some of the muscle building programs http://www.gain-muscle-mass.net/Muscle_Training_Programs.html

If you want to gain muscle and get ripped at the same time I suggest sticking with How to Get Ripped abs by John Alvino.  It is a complete system that not only rips you to shreds but gets your muscles into condition making you look hard and lean when the body fat drops off.

I’m glad this 4 week lay off is over.  Back to the gym!

How to Get Ripped Abs Challenge – Start Week 6

If you have been following my How to Get Ripped Abs Challenge you will notice a 3 week absence of posts.  I had a trip to New York City for work and ended up getting run down and sick.  I wasn’t feeling that good for a couple of weeks so I and I wanted to make sure I was at 100% before getting back to the program.  How to Get Ripped Abs is a very challenging workout program so it’s tough to even think about doing these workouts with a cold.

I had a very successful 5 initial weeks on the program losing 12 pounds of pure fat and already transforming my physique to a degree.  The good news is that even with a 3 week layoff I did not gain any fat back around my waist or weight on the scale.  I attribute this to the fact that the fat I lost was from eating plenty of calories and really tough workouts so my metabolism was never slowed down.  Many people gain weight back quickly after losing it but on the How to Get Ripped Abs program you will find that it is permanent weight loss.  I should have hit the gym a few times during the last week but then I got myself out of the habit of working out.  I will be going at it full speed again starting tonight.

How to Get Ripped Abs is perfect for anyone that wants to drop a lot of body fat or just needs to drop that last stubborn 8-10 pounds that won’t come off.  It will melt it off faster than you ever thought imaginable.  If you are into mixed martial arts or wrestling it will even get you into the ultimate physical condition to compete in your sport.  I’m looking forward to getting back to it and losing my last 20 pounds.  How to Get Ripped Abs is the only system you ever need to drop fat and get in shape!

How To Get Ripped Abs Challenge – Day 33

Today is day 33 on my How to Get Ripped Abs challenge and I’m happy it’s Friday.  I hit cardio today at the gym pushing hard on the elliptical.  John Alvino suggests doing very specific high intensity interval training workouts for the best method of fat loss.  It has always been my preference to use HIIT and it always works great for me.  I much rather spend only 12-20 minutes doing cardio rather than boring 45 minute sessions everyday.  There is a great variety of cardio workouts to choose from and each one has specific work intervals and rest intervals.  I’ve been doing mainly the jump rope and elliptical workouts but will be taking a break from jump roping due to my calf injury.  I’m still just a bit too heavy for jumping rope and it puts quite a bit of stress on my joints.  I was still doing it because I liked the challenge but a pulled calf muscle wasn’t something I was expecting.

My diet went well today.  I do need to stock back up on some groceries though as I’m lacking variety and eating some of the same things over and over.  It’s time to break out John Alvino’s recipe book that he includes in How to Get Ripped Abs to get some additional healthy meal ideas.  The How to Get Ripped Abs system includes everything you could possibly think of to insure success on the program.  All you have to do is follow the plan from day 1 to day 84.  I’ll get a good night rest tonight and be ready for my third gym workout on Saturday.

How To Get Ripped Abs Challenge – Day 32

Today is Thursday day 32 on my How to Get Ripped Abs challenge.  How to Get Ripped Abs was written by John Alvino who has a gym down in N.J. where he specifically focuses on training athletes.  This program is really great for athletes looking to get into incredible condition while getting stronger and leaner.  I have found the workouts extremely challenging but I love how hard I have to work to get through them.  When you see your body changing so quickly in the mirror it just inspires you to look forward to the next grueling workout.  If you have a great work ethic and want to see changes every single week I would recommend this for rapid change.

Since I pulled my calf muscle on Tuesday I decided to give my body a break today and skip cardio.  I want to make sure I’m fresh for my third gym workout for the week and I don’t want to risk hurting it more doing cardio so I’m going to give it 1 more day rest and then do cardio on Friday and my gym workout on Saturday.  Today I have been able to walk on it without noticing it but it is still tight if I push up on my toes.  I stuck to my diet all day and since I’ve been losing 3 pounds a week I’m not worried about missing the 2 cardio workouts.  I will probably only end up with a 2 pound loss for the week but that is fine because that is still excellent speed.

How to Get Ripped Abs has kept my in a nice structure to follow and as look as I don’t get off the path it will all be worth it when I see my end results in week 12.

How To Get Ripped Abs Challenge – Day 31

Today is Wednesday day 31 on my How to Get Ripped Abs challenge.  This program by John Alvino is like nothing I have done before.  These aren’t casual gym workouts where I go get a workout in.  This is pure hard work and it requires some mental toughness to get through the workouts.  The upside of sticking with it though has been a consistent 3 pounds of fat lost per week while eating plenty of food and not having to cut any calories.

Yesterday I pulled my calf muscle jumping rope when it cramped up so tight that it actually strained the muscle.  Today it feels tight and is a little painful but I’m able to walk without limping.  With a good warm up I was able to do my regular workout in the gym without it even bothering me.  How to Get Ripped Abs includes a good warm up and joint alignment and prep to get your body ready for the workout.  It’s especially important in this system to do the warm ups.  I was able to push myself 100% right to the end again but the ab exercises are still quite difficult for me and I have a hard time getting over 8 reps on any of them.  In Phase 2 he introduces several variations of the plank which really puts a heavy stress on the core and abs.  I’ve never really done these type of exercises before and they are really tough at the end of the work out.

I had a buffalo chicken salad for dinner, eggs with potatoes for breakfast, a turkey sandwich on Ezekiel bread for lunch, and a protein drink.  I still wasn’t hungry enough to eat 5 meals so I drank a little more protein prior to going to bed.  How to Get Ripped Abs has a very precise meal plan that is specific to your own bodyweight in calories and meals.  So far I haven’t spent a single day or hour hungry.  It’s more of a challenge to get all of the food in during the day and always being full.  You don’t hear that very often when someone is losing weight as fast as I am.

How To Get Ripped Abs Challenge – Day 30

Today is Tuesday day 30 on my How to Get Ripped Abs challenge and a busy work day so I didn’t get all of my meals in today.  I ate a late breakfast of 3 whole eggs, with 6 egg whites scrambled with a ¼ cup of fat free cheese, and 2 pieces of Ezekiel bread toasted.  This filled me up for nearly 4 hours and I had to make myself get up and eat my next meal which took me up until about 5pm for my next meal.  I needed to workout so I had a quick scoop of protein powder.

I went outside to do my jump rope workout and something went wrong.  I was 1 minute into the jump roping and my right calf cramped up really tight and I had to stop.  It was one of those cramps that seizes up so hard that it leaves you sore and tight for a while.  It’s 7 hours later and I’m still limping around.  Needless to say my cardio workout was shot today, can’t really count 1 minute.  I did some massage and stretching and I am pretty sure I will be fine for my workout tomorrow at the gym.  This is the first time I have cramped up on the program and I am pretty sure that it had to do with me not getting my meals and nutrients in for the day and enough water.

On my How to Get Ripped Abs program I do 3 cardio workouts a week and I try to make one of them the jump rope session.  This is the first time this happened.  I’ll stay on the elliptical on Thursday and Saturday and then next Tuesday give it another shot.  I’ll make sure to warm up and stretch a bit prior.

I ended the day with only 4 meals.  A good chicken Caesar salad to fill me up for dinner but I know my total calories fell short today.  Tomorrow I will force myself to get them all in especially in the morning because I need the first 2 meals of the day with the complex carbs to give me energy for my workout in the gym.  I’m already looking forward to my Wednesday workout as I march on in the How To Get Ripped Abs 84 Day Challenge.

How To Get Ripped Abs Challenge – Day 29

It’s Monday day 29 on my How to Get Ripped Abs challenge and I weighed in so that I could get my week 4 results.  I am down 12 pounds and have dropped 2 inches off of my waistline in 28 days.  These are amazing results for any plan but I even took a half week off when my family went to a wedding and I ate normal for a few days.  I have also had a couple cheat meals of pizza.  During the next 8 weeks I need to make sure I’m not cheating and just stick to the plan because eventually the fat loss will slow down but right now I’m losing at the rate of 3 pounds a week which is much faster than my usual 2 pounds per week.

The How to Get Ripped Abs program has me eating so many healthy meals throughout the day so I am never hungry or craving food.  It’s amazing that I’ve lost 12 pounds and never felt like I was dieting for a single day.  I need to stay on track and keep working out hard and I should continue to see these results.

The workout today was great.  I had the entire weekend to rest so I went into the gym fresh and ready to push myself hard.  Once again by the end I was practically crawling out and I could have literally wrung my shirt out from sweating so much.  The full body exercises and supersets create so much heat from burning so many calories that I get incredibly hot.  I’m not using any thermogenic fat burners or ephedra based products either.  I’m keeping my supplementation completely natural with a few vitamins, green tea, fish oil, and alpha lipoic acid.  I have used the harsh fat burners in the past that were loaded with stims and I have sworn them off for the rest of my life.  My body doesn’t seem to have any problem melting fat off quickly without them.

So far How to Get Ripped Abs has been very challenging the first 4 weeks but I can see measurable results that I am very happy with.  In the future if I ever needed to rip up and drop 8-10 pounds easily I could probably just do 6 weeks of this and be in great shape.  I don’t plan on blowing up ever again either because as I get close to 40 years old I really need to watch the fat around the waistline and I can’t let it accumulate ever again.  Once I get rid of it this time around I’m never letting it come back.  An extra inch on the waist isn’t bad during a muscle building phase is o.k. but I don’t plan on adding more than that.

The diet stayed right on track today.  Ate clean and felt great.

How To Get Ripped Abs Challenge – Day 27 & Day 28

Today I’m compiling my Saturday and Sunday into 1 post for my How to Get Ripped Abs challenge.  Today is Sunday day 28 and the end of week 4.  I took Saturday off of training and opted not to do the cardio training.  I can tell when I’m really pushing the edge and my body needs some extra rest.  I knew it was going to be better for me to take the entire weekend off and be really fresh on Monday rather than do the last cardio session on Saturday.  Sometimes you need to listen to your body and back off.  The last thing I want to do is push myself so hard that I end up with a compromised immune system and get sick for a week.  By taking Saturday off I’ll be ready to give 100% again on Monday.

Saturday I still stuck to the diet accept for some pizza at the end of the night.  I had my typical Saturday night cheat meal of pizza.  I would like to be a little stricter but at the same time I want to log 12 weeks and show people they can still drop 30 pounds and get lean without giving up all their favorite foods.  Once you get down to single digit body fat and you’re trying to lose that last couple of pounds it becomes important to be more strict but I’m still at the point where I’m dropping 2 pounds a week even with a couple cheat meals every week.  The incredibly rigorous workouts are what make slipping off the diet now and then possible.  The total energy demand that I’m putting on myself during the course of the week is pretty high so I end up glycogen depleted and the cheat meal does help restore some of that glycogen rather than get stored as fat.

Sunday was another good rest day and I plan on getting to bed early again so I’ll be ready for Monday.  It’s Sunday night and I’m officially done with Week 4 of my How to Get Ripped Abs challenge.

How To Get Ripped Abs Challenge – Day 26

Today is Friday day 26 on my How to Get Ripped Abs challenge and I can honestly say I almost didn’t make it to the gym because I am pretty fatigued from the week.  I was hoping to make it to the gym early in the day but I couldn’t get there until 5pm on Friday.  Sometimes it can be really tough by the end of the week to get that last workout in on a Friday.  I am feeling very worn out and really need the rest over the weekend.  My body just doesn’t recover like it did when I was in my early 20’s running around as a US Marine.  These workouts will get anyone ready for boot camp and I would highly recommend this program to anyone trying to get in shape before they go to any military boot camp.

How to Get Ripped Abs will get you in such good shape the boot camp will be a breeze.  It’s important to show up in condition because mentally it’s already quite challenging.  If you have a physical edge it makes the time there that much easier.

I learned another lesson today that I made note of.  The gym workouts are very tough and can make me a bit nauseous by the end so I really need to watch what I eat in the 2 hours prior to the workout.  Today’s choice of chicken salad at 3:30pm didn’t sit well for a 5pm workout.  I made it through my workout just fine and on the ride home thought I was home free but the first ¼ mile in my car was just enough to push me over the edge.  I pulled over about ½ mile from the gym, got out of my car and promptly threw up all over a gas station parking lot.  Chicken salad and lettuce all over the place, though I did it on the side in the grass so no one really saw me.  I sure felt better after that.  I need to make sure my meal preworkout is just protein powder because I need something that digests quickly and easily.  That was homemade chicken salad made from baked chicken breast.  It was delicious on the way down and not quite as tasty on the way back up.  So a note to anyone that decides to do this program – eat something light prior to the workouts in the gym.

I had a buffalo chicken salad for dinner and went to bed early.  I can’t believe I still ate more chicken.  Just can’t get enough chicken…
